The size of the air craft shed and its position were
under consideration and it was decided to await Mr. Dawson's
visit before making a final decision as to these questions.

There is sufficient area available adjoining the R.A. F. temporary builings for one small aircraft shed which could be utilized at present for Civil aviation, but this would involve the construction of another slipway. Although the R.A.F. may be willing to put such an area at our disposal it would probably soon be found to be inconvenient for Civil aviation as addition- al area would be required for the necessary subsidiary buildings such as police, customs and administration offices.

The slipway under construction is suitable for R.1.F. requirements. Copies of the design of this slipway are being furnished to Mr. Dawson and the original design at his sugestia is being curtailed to allow a depth of 6 ft. at low water instea of a depth of 7 ft. as was originally provided for and thus a saving in expenditure is obtainable.

The camber area originally suggested has been omitted in the latest Departmental lay-out scheme as it was found that if made of sufficient size to accommodate the slipways it

is situated in sheltered water it is not considered necessary to provide any protection by the construction of a male or breakwater which could be added if and when required.

It is suggested that temporary accomodation be provided for Civil Aviation at the South-East corner of the Aerodrome and that the slipway now being completed may be utilized in this commection until such time as it may be required for R.A.F. purposes when another slipway entirely for Civil aviation could be constructed in the South-West corner.
